Sudan’s Central Bank Renews Account Freeze on 39 Political and Military Figures, Including Hamdok and Arman

Reliable sources have confirmed that the Central Bank of Sudan has recently renewed its decision to freeze the bank accounts of about 39 prominent political and military figures, including senior leaders from the Forces of Freedom and Change (FFC) and former officials from the transitional government.
According to the sources, the measure is not entirely new, as the accounts had been frozen earlier, but the renewed directive related to new legal cases suggests a notable escalation in actions against these figures after a period of political stagnation.
Information obtained by Al-Rai Al-Sudani indicates that the list includes former Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok, Burma Nasser, Omar Al-Degeir, Al-Wathiq Al-Bereir, Siddiq Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi, Suleiman Sandal, Urwa Al-Sadiq, Nasr Al-Din Mufreh, Rasha Awad, Salah Manna, Madani Abbas Madani, Ibrahim Al-Mirghani, and Yasir Arman, along with several well-known activists and media figures.
Political observers believe the move carries both political and legal implications, especially amid escalating tensions between civilian and military factions within Sudan’s fractured political landscape.
As of publication, no official statement has been issued by the Central Bank of Sudan or any other relevant authorities regarding the renewed account freeze.
Analysts say the decision may reflect a broader tightening of financial oversight amid the ongoing conflict and internal power struggles, which have further polarized Sudan’s political scene since the outbreak of war.
