Khartoum’s Karari Water Department Praised for Restoring Steady Water Flow

The Karari Locality Water Department in Khartoum State has succeeded in restoring a steady and reliable water supply after weeks of intensive efforts to remove major blockages in the main pipelines.
Supported by the locality’s Executive Director, the department’s engineering teams launched a large-scale campaign to tackle what they called “the hidden enemy” — the roots of Damas trees that had grown inside the underground pipes and disrupted the flow of water to several neighborhoods.
The teams worked meticulously to extract the tree roots and clear the main transmission lines, resulting in the full restoration of regular water distribution across the locality.
In addition to the cleaning operations, new water wells were installed to strengthen pressure and ensure supply stability. Maintenance crews also continue to monitor the pipelines and repair any damage promptly, ensuring uninterrupted service to residents.
Officials praised the Karari Water Department’s staff as “silent heroes,” commending their dedication, vigilance, and national responsibility in maintaining one of the city’s most vital public utilities.
