Khartoum Authorities Remove 857 Illegal Structures in Al-Khairat, East Nile

The Land Protection and Violations Removal Unit in Khartoum State has demolished more than 850 illegal structures in the Al-Khairat area of East Nile, following direct orders from Governor Ahmed Othman Hamza to stop the re-emergence of unplanned housing.
According to an official statement, heavy machinery from the unit was immediately deployed to remove 857 unauthorized constructions, including makeshift zinc shelters and huts, that had recently appeared in the Al-Fateh (Al-Khairat) neighborhoods.
The operation comes just weeks after the same sites were previously cleared, as authorities seek to enforce urban planning laws and prevent the spread of informal settlements.
Abdulaziz Abdullah, Director of the Land Protection and Violations Removal Unit, confirmed that a 12-member police force led by an officer was deployed to secure the site. A permanent security outpost has also been established to monitor the area and prevent future illegal encroachments.
The Khartoum government reiterated its commitment to maintaining organized urban expansion and protecting public lands from unregulated development across the state.
