IOM: Over 82,000 People Displaced from El Fasher and Nearby Villages Since Late October

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has reported that more than 82,000 people have been displaced from El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, and surrounding villages between October 26 and November 4, 2025.
According to the organization’s latest update, most of the displaced remain within El Fasher locality, while others have fled to Kebkabiya, Mellit, Kutum, and Tawila. Smaller groups have also been reported moving toward Kosti, Ghbeish, and parts of Central and West Darfur States.
The IOM warned that insecurity along major routes continues to hinder humanitarian access and population movement, complicating relief efforts. The organization described the humanitarian situation as highly volatile and deteriorating, as armed clashes persist across the region.
The agency further noted that displacement dynamics are shifting rapidly, and that the current figures are preliminary and may double if hostilities continue in and around El Fasher.
Humanitarian groups have expressed growing concern over the worsening crisis in North Darfur, where recent mass killings and infrastructure destruction have pushed thousands into extreme vulnerability, with limited shelter, food, and medical assistance available.
