Inside the Shadow Network: “Abu Lulu” — Dagalo’s Ruthless Enforcer Behind the El Fasher Massacres

Intelligence sources have revealed that Al-Fateh Abdullah Idris — widely known by his nom de guerre “Abu Lulu” — is one of the most influential figures within the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and a key member of the Dagalo family circle accused of orchestrating atrocities in Darfur.
Abu Lulu, a member of the Mahariya clan, joined the RSF in 2013 after military training at the Al-Jaili camp, quickly climbing the ranks thanks to his direct family ties to RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti). His rapid promotion was solidified when his elder brother was commissioned as an officer.
He was later assigned to the RSF Special Forces, participating in Operation Decisive Sword before being deployed to Yemen several times as part of early RSF contingents. Upon returning to Sudan, he was transferred to the RSF Intelligence Office in Riyadh, then led by officer Mudhawi, marking his ascent within the militia’s security apparatus.
As tensions grew between the RSF and the Sudanese Armed Forces, Abu Lulu became part of Abdelrahim Dagalo’s personal security unit, participating in several key battles across Khartoum — most notably the attack on the Signal Corps in Bahri, during which his brother was killed.
His notoriety spread after videos surfaced showing him supervising field executions of captured soldiers in Al-Jaili. Following that incident, Abdelrahim Dagalo personally reassigned him to the elite “Abu Anjlik Unit”, a group tasked not with direct combat but with executions, intelligence gathering, and post-battle interrogations.
During the siege of El Fasher, Dagalo reportedly ordered both Abu Anjlik and Abu Lulu to seal the city, digging trenches to prevent any civilian escape. When Abu Anjlik was later wounded and evacuated to Nyala, Abu Lulu launched a brutal revenge campaign, which he described as “retribution,” executing over 2,000 civilians in what observers have called one of the war’s deadliest massacres.
Human rights monitors and Sudanese legal experts hold Abdelrahim Dagalo and the RSF high command directly responsible for these crimes, accusing them of issuing operational orders and providing political cover for systematic violations that amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity.
